Brewing news USA, MO: Lost Signal Brewing now open in Springfield

Springfield is now home to four local breweries, as Lost Signal Brewing opened their doors in downtown Springfield this week, KY3 reported on February 17.

"It seems like Springfield has a real desire for shopping and eating and drinking local. And just keeping true to who we are," said Tyler Hoke, Owner of Lost Signal Brewing. "We're the only barbecue place that makes their own beer in Springfield and Springfield people love their barbecue too, so."

For Hoke, beer and barbecue seemed like a perfect fit. As did the old, brick building on West College Street where they're now located.

The building used to be a radio station and still has the old antennae up on the roof. Even though the building has sat empty for a couple of years, Hoke wanted to incorporate that history into the new business. That's where they came up with the name Lost Signal Brewing.

"I just sat down and started writing every name I could and then got friends to help," Hoke said. "I don't know who came up with it, but that name stuck."

Right now - there are four beers on tap, but more will be added soon. The beers will also be rotated often to keep things fresh.

"Right now we have a nice array of a couple English styles, an Irish red and an English brown," said Hoke. "An American amber and an American pale ale, and this weekend, we'll have the American wheat rye. So they're very easy to drink, very approachable beers, but they also have my little twist on them."

Hoke's father is part of a smooth smoke barbecue team, so he helped craft the food menu.

"When we decided to do food, we were like, well we gotta go all the way, so why not get some of the best around to help us out and so that's why this food's been so good," Hoke said.

Menu items include tacos, loaded nachos, salads, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and chicken.

There is also an alleyway space that can be used as a patio, so when the weather is nice, an additional 70 seats can be added outside.

Lost Signal employs 12 people and even though the grand opening is yet to come, they've already received a warm welcome from the community.

"I'm really enjoying actually being open and seeing people's reactions to the food and to the beer and how much, so far, everybody's really enjoyed everything, which makes me feel really good for all the work we put into it," Hoke said.

Saturday, February 18 was Lost Signal's grand opening. They're open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. for discounts and giveaways.

Lost Signal Brewing is located at 610 W. College Street in Springfield.
